An Ending Which Will Haunt You For Life : A (Spoiler Free!) Review of Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough

It's strange how different we all appear to who we really are.

Just wanted to give out a disclaimer that after reading this book, you may want to take a week-long break to recover from what you read. Having said that, lets go on about the book!

Behind Her Eyes, now also made into a limited series on Netflix, has made its name in the book community not only because of how insanely addictive thriller it is, but also (mostly) because of its out of the world, spine chilling ending (No worries, I’ll not give out spoilers!). For my part, my hands were trembling after I put down the book, as the double twist in the end absolutely tore my world apart. It took me a while to recover from the shock I received.

The plot revolves around three characters, Louise, Adele and David. Louise, a single mother, hits off with a guy named David one night. Things were going great until the next day, when Louise realized that David is her new boss. To make things worse, he is married. The awkwardness and secrecy is multiplied when Louise develops a bond of friendship with David’s wife Adele, and in no times becomes obsessively entangled in the mysterious web of their marriage, determined to dig out their dark past.

Everyone has secrets, Lou,” she says. “Everyone should be allowed their secrets. You can never know everything about a person. You’d go mad trying to.

The story is addictive. I am warning you, it is. It is twisted to the extent of your imagination. About a little more than halfway into the book, you will think that you have figured out what is going on, but remind yourself that you are wrong. Throughout the book, keep reminding yourself you are wrong. There is more to discover. You will struggle to figure out whom to trust, so better don’t. The flow of writing in smooth, every chapter more suspicious that the previous, and through the last quarter of the book, you’ll be turning the pages as if your life depended on it.

Saying anymore without giving out any spoilers is becoming difficult for me so I’ll just say go ahead and read it if you are a thriller lover and thank me later!

My Rating – 5/5

Happy Reading!
