Chilling and Heartbreaking: The Last Mrs. Parrish is Everything you ever want from a Book

I am too numb to even start writing about this book. When I picked up The Last Mrs. Parrish, I, as an avid thriller reader, was expecting the usual plot twists and thrills all the way, but what came out of this book changed the game for me. Surpassing all expectations, the book gave me the most magical experience of my life in less than 400 enthralling pages. After I put down the book, I realized I need a significant amount of time to process everything my mind and heart went through before jumping into another book.

The plot, as mentioned in the blurb, revolves around Amber Patterson, a 26-year-old woman, who is tired of being average, earning enough to barely meet the ends. Amber envies Daphne Parrish, who seems to have it all, from a luxurious seaside mansion to butlers and maids at her service round the clock; from expensive dresses and jewelry to a multi-millionaire husband, Jackson. Amber decides to sabotage Daphne and Jackson’s relationship and win Jackson over for herself, so that she can have the life Daphne has, a life of luxury without any worries. But the interesting fact is, the blurb doesn’t even cover half of what is inside this artistic creation. A little over halfway inside the book, every belief and expectation is shattered as you are made to stand in front of a mirror reflecting the reality. Never have I ever felt as at one with any character of a novel as I did with Daphne. She has my heart.

The plot takes some time to build up, but once it does, there is no going back. The turn of events is smooth, and I read on with my heart pacing as fast as a galloping horse, all my emotions at steak. The climax and ending melted my heart, and for the first time in my life, I have cried after reading a book. This book offers you thrill, suspense, heartbreak, betrayal and pain, all blended in harmoniously to create this mind-blowing tale. I promise you will come out of the book as a different person, forced to rethink relationships, love and friendship, and the masks that people, willingly or unwillingly put on to hide the treacherous face of reality under the sheath of glitter and glamour.

I highly recommend it to all bookoholic thriller lovers!

My Rating – 5/5
